President
Truro Amateur Operatic and Dramatic
Society have been around for a lot longer than I have. We have a history of
performance in Truro
which goes back to the early part of the last century and since that time we
have presented plays, musicals, operetta, concerts and our own Carolare at
Christmas. In later years we have been fortunate to develop our own theatre at Redannick Lane
where we rehearse, build our sets and have a store for props and costumes.
Whilst we present plays and small musicals here, we also regularly perform at
the Hall for Cornwall, the Minack Theatre and Trelissick Gardens.
Of far greater importance than all of these things is the
very special group of people who meet together to take delight in anything to
do with amateur theatre. “ A very friendly group” is how many visitors and new
members describe us. I have certainly found that to be the case over the twenty
years that I have associated with the society. I have been lucky enough to take
principle roles. be in the chorus, work backstage as well as direct shows and
on every occasion the hallmark has been that of friendship and camaraderie with
lots of very talented people. That is why I have stayed and that is why I am
proud to be the society’s president.
Whatever your gift: dancer, singer, actor, stage
electrics, wardrobe, properties, set design and building or directing; or
perhaps your not quite sure yet; you will find a warm welcome awaiting you
